1962

Spring 2002:

Sr. Alice Neef has been teaching since 1967. She calculates that in all those years, she has taught more than 1,000 children. She says, "They have touched my heart. I pray I have touched theirs." She entered the Convent of Saint Elizabeth in 1963, and celebrated 38 years in the congregation last September 6th. "I'm still very happy," she writes. "And with the help of God, I'll continue with good health to work with and for Him." Sr. Alice currently works in the Parish School at St. James parish in Springfield, NJ, and volunteers in the Contemporary Choir and on the team of the "Liturgy of the Word with Children." She teaches four-year-olds during the week and coordinates the Kinder-Academy of St. James, the church's pre-K program. She is also the representative for St. James' School at any Archdiocesan Religious Meetings. Sr. Alice notes that she is the proud aunt of five nephews, a niece and seven great-nieces and great-nephews, and loves being "Aunt Dee Dee" to them. She has a particular love of music and enjoys sewing: For six months, she and her sister have been working on a hand-made quilt. She writes, "If you ever receive a hand-made quilt, please appreciate it. A lot of love and work goes into the completion of it." Sr. Alice lives in Florham Park, NJ. Judith Bulger Giblin, who lives in Jackson, NJ, writes: "My marriage to Michael, my best friend and best love, has produced wonderful children. Michael is a comptroller with Perini Corp, and is now working in Jersey City. Danny and his wife, Elvira, have two boys, Justin and Nicholas. Dan is a manager at Ruby Tuesdays. Sean is a foreman at the Star Ledger, married to Kathy, and has two children, Makenna and Sean, Jr. Tara is an executive assistant with the Schultz Organization, married to Ian and expecting her first child. We can't wait. Matt is a researcher with the University of Alaska in Anchorage, married to Melissa and very close to having his Ph.D. in criminal justice. I'm still an avid reader, presently not working outside the home. I am into carpentry in a big way (beds, cabinets, bookcases, tables, toys, etc.). My best-ever presents have been power tools. A gift certificate from Home Depot sends me into ecstasy. I also dabble in home décor with successful results. All in all, I am one happy woman. I hope some year to get to a reunion. I think fondly of my old friends. Maybe you could have a reunion somewhere along Rt. 9 so it would be easy to get to. The recent events in New York have saddened me but also made me appreciate all we have as a family. It also bought to mind my old best friend, Judy Kist, who died when she was only 44. I have been unable to find out what happened, since her parents are deceased and her sisters are married. Does anyone have any info? Love to all." Peggy Kroner Hunter, who lives in Livingston, NJ, has been a real estate agent in Livingston and surrounding areas for 17 years. Josephine Barone Munley and her husband, Edward, have been married for 34 years and have four children Edward, Michael, Vincent and Lisa and three grandchildren: Eddie (10), Taylor (7) and Lauren (6). She writes: "After ending a short career as a beautician and a secretary at an insurance company, I became a stay-at-home Mom. I have lived in Miami Shores, FL, for the last 22 years and miss the change of seasons very much. My husband is an account executive for Aames Home Loans, and has been in the mortgage business for 35 years. I still enjoy cooking Italian food and being a hair dresser, but now only for my three beautiful grandchildren, who keep me very busy." Jane Lynskey McCoy lives in West Simsbury, CT. She and her husband have been married for 34 years and have three daughters, ages 31, 30 and 29. They lived in Korea for five years.
